Show Moss the Love
Boston fans can turn a player into a rock star or run someone out of town in a blink of an eye. The recent success of Boston sports has spoiled us as fans. Trying being a fan in Cleveland, they haven’t won a championship since 1964. If you drop a pass in Boston you need get out of town quicker than Jason Bourne. So why does Randy Moss feel “unwanted”? The greatest deep threat of all-time needs to feel more than welcome Boston fans, he needs to feel at home.
Earlier this week Randy Moss made remarks saying he felt “unwanted” and didn’t know if his future would be in New England. By Thursday his locker mate, best friend, and President of New England Tom Brady had signed a 4-year extension worth $72 million dollars. This week Brady and Moss had been going out to dinner to discuss their future plans. Brady’s plans are in New England so why is Moss currently not on any team after this season? Before Moss represented the navy blue and silver of New England he had a bad reputation. There was an incident where he didn’t comply with an officer’s orders to stop and decided to bump the officer with his SUV, he left two games early, he pretended to moon fans, and he has been cited for smoking marijuana three times. In New England all he has done is catch footballs.
Randy Moss has been nothing but business. In 2007 his first season as a Patriot he caught 23 touchdowns, the current NFL record. In 2008 he went over a thousand yards and caught 11 touchdowns with Matt Cassell throwing the football. Last year, more of the same with Moss going over 12,000 yards receiving and 13 scores. Now, at age 33 Moss feels a little a homeless. The New England Patriots run a system that all players follow and buy into. This system is different from any team in the NFL. It turned disgruntled running back Corey Dillion into a super bowl winner. Yet, Moss doesn’t feel like he fits into the system now. Moss is certaintly on the downside of his career, but he has paid his dues. He has earned respect. He has performed his duty on the football field since being in New England better than anyone expected, and that is saying a lot when you are Randy Moss. Boston fans don’t take Randy Moss for granted because he still has three good seasons in him. The number rule for the Patriots is keeping Tom Brady happy. After Moss made remarks about feeling unwanted the next day Brady stated Randy Moss was the best deep threat to ever play the game. It is scary how much we love Tom Brady, so how about we listen to him. An average Patriots fan would clip Brady’s toe nails if Tom asked them to. Let’s leave the toe nail clippers in the bathroom and give him Randy Moss instead, that is what he really wants.

Finance Committee Meeting
On Monday evening the Finance committee of Bangor provided the police with a new message board, dealt with an emotional repossession, and proceeded to grant the expensive wishes of Bangor International Airport for new machinery and some help on cleaning up a terminal.
Assistant Airport Director Anthony P. Caruso spoke on behalf of the Bangor International Airport (BIA) to go through with their request of a new electric scissor lift. The new model would replace the current outdated 1987 model, which can only reach 20 feet. The new model can reach to their desired amount of 26 feet. The bid for the new scissor lift is $22,500.
Caruso laughed as he said “the council has come to know me very well as there are multiple projects that sometimes even require federal funding.” Caruso continued to say the “bid was part of the annual budget process held months before the meeting. The city council sees our potential needs and grants approval for what would be appropriate.”
It wasn’t all smooth sailing for Caruso and the BIA. Caruso brought with him a picture of a terminal in public sight from the main drive. This terminal had experienced noticeable damage, is constantly peeling, and experienced extensive deterioration over the last year. The picture invoked Councilor Cary Weston to ask how it could possibly get to this point. Before eventually agreeing to send people to assist the BIA in cleaning the exterior of the terminal the Council scolded Caruso for waiting this long.
Caruso said “we have a supervisor and five full-time workers as part of our maintenance crew, and despite their constant efforts they couldn’t keep up with the most recent deterioration.” Despite the eye sore of the terminal Caruso feels “We (BIA) represent the city of Bangor, the region, and the state very well I am proud to be a part of the Bangor International Airport.”
A rarity did occur during Monday’s meeting. Something that is on the lowest part of the totem pole in consideration to the other issues on the agenda during a Finance meeting was the repossession of a house on Pearl Street. With a representative from Community Development Loan to detail the path traveled to get to the point they are at now the issue turned emotional. 42 months behind in payments, no effort truly made, and most discerning to the Council a lack of communication lead to the final straw. One vote away from having her house taken away the members of Bangor’s council gave the woman one more chance with a financial plan and a file for poverty abatement.
“This debate lead to some relatively unusual things” said councilor David Nealley. “Personal issues are not common, but it is an emotional issue, smaller dollar, and you just do everything you can.”
Chief of police, Ron Gastia, spoke on behalf of the police department in hopes of getting another message board. Messages boards serve to rely traffic concerns, weather issues, general information, and drunk driving warnings. The message board would not monitor speed as this jacks the price up several thousands of dollars. There are two currently that do have radar. The police could keep at least half a dozen boards busy and when the right staff is available an emergency message could be on the streets in 15-20 minutes. After receiving kudos from Councilor Weston for the speedy and quiet work during the weekend’s events, and a confession from alternative Councilor Harold Wheeler that he forgets to wear his seat belt and the message boards remind him to, another message board became imminent.

Fantasy Football Preview
Girls roll their eyes when men talk about their fantasy team. Yet, men know a fantasy football championship means alpha male bragging rights among the bros for years to come. Read this fantasy preview and soak up the knowledge, sleepers, and busts to fist pump and celebrate your way to fantasy lore in the 2010-2011 season.
The biggest debate in the fantasy football pre-season is who you pick number one. Personally, I wish they would save the ink. The amount of debate for one pick who affects at most three people in one round in ludicrous. This year more than ever you can skip those pages, it is Chris Johnson. I’ll cause a scene in public if I hear Adrian Peterson in consideration for number one pick. His numbers have continued to decrease in the last four years and he only topped 100 yards in a game three times last year, and don’t forget about that fumbleitis. Chris Johnson topped 100 yards twelve times and his numbers only increased once Vince young took the helm and he may even be the best receiver on a young Titans team.
The NFL is evolving into a passing league, draft accordingly. For example hall of fame quarterback John Elway threw for 4,000 yards once in his career (4,030). Aaron Rodgers (stud) has already done it twice and there were ten other quarterbacks last season to top the 4,000 yard plateau. The NFL now over compensates with rules to protect quarterbacks and gives personal fouls to defensive backs if they chew bubble gum within five yards of a receiver. The big running backs will still dominate because they are the most consistent fantasy scorers from week to week. Randy Moss finished as the second ranked receiver and had four weeks last season he had six or less fantasy points. What does this mean? Get a top ten quarterback, a consistent runner, and load up on these upside receivers.
Mike Wallace of the Pittsburgh Steelers doesn’t seem to care who is throwing him the football, might be Dennis Dixon the first four weeks, he makes big plays, and the return of Roethlisberger in week five will only make his stats go up. Jacoby Jones of the Houston Texans has learned under Andre Johnson (the best receiver on the planet) and may be the next Reggie Wayne. Rookie Dez Bryant, despite missing the pre-season will be a beast who plays with a chip on his shoulder. Although Bryant fell in the real draft Jerry Jones has given nothing but love and so should you. Mike Martz is now calling plays in Chicago and with Cutler throwing the rock one big receiver will emerge, either Johnny Knox or Devin Aromashodu “The aroma” but it will not be Devin Hester, don’t be that guy who drafts Hester every year. Some deep wide receiver sleepers for late round picks are Mike Williams of the Seahawks who will start with the release of T.J who’s your momma and another Mike Williams of the Buccaneers who has been a human highlight reel during the pre-season. Patriot fans rejoice Edelman might catch 75 to a 100 balls, and I wouldn’t expect Welker to miss a beat this season as Brady has looked like vintage Brady in the pre-season.
